"Superhero Log: The Finale"

It got very real, very quickly. As Myrne sounded the alarm that time was short, family and friends set aside their daily lives, boarded planes, jumped into cars, and rushed to the man whose intense intellect, hysterical humor, potent personality, authentic artistry, and powerful photography surpassed every standard.

To many, Lyle was the life of the party. To those closest to him, he was a singular masterpiece, full of wisdom, playful wit, a worry-free spirit, and wholeness personified. And yet, nothing could have prepared our family for what today would bring.

As only Lyle would, faithful to his own script, he left us exactly as he desired, with clear instructions for his closing act. In his final moments, he was given the comfort he requested. Surrounded by Myrne, Layla, family, friends, and his "Boys," he took his last breath at 3:57 p.m. on Wednesday, August 27th, 2025. Our family is broken, yet relieved that our beloved Lyle, husband, father, son, brother, and friend, is free from pain, free from suffering, and finally at peace.

As the curtain falls on this final act, we honor the brilliance of the story he lived and the love he leaves behind. Just as every great performance lingers in the hearts of its audience, Lyle’s presence will forever echo in ours. Our family thanks you for your prayers, love, and support, and asks that our time of mourning be deeply respected at this time.

I’d just turned 50 and was feeling good, I tell you. Full checkups done. Heart strong. Kidneys fine. Bamsee cleared! I was on top of my health. Myrne didn’t even have to remind me. "So...What Happened?"

Dear Family & Friends, The outpouring of support for Lyle, Myrnetta and the whole family has been overwhelming and beautiful.   Lyle was deeply loved and as a result we are getting so many calls asking us two questions “what the heck happened, and how can we help?" Since we don’t have time to respond to each message, we wanted to share a little more with you here and offer up some practical ways to help us celebrate this life that we all loved so much. "What the heck happened?" When people pass away unexpectedly, this is the question that people most want to know and Lyle wouldn’t want you wondering (ha ha), so we wanted to share a little more about what happened. As Lyle shared in his blog, very recently he went to the doctor for a persistent cough – and found that there were some concerning spots on his lungs.  The doctors were amazed that he was able to physically function so well despite the condition of his lungs, but soon after the discovery he was hospitalized...
